Holistic Financial Planning considers the many facets of
wealth accumulation and distribution
aligned with your timing and goals.
Household Balance Sheet
When considering your wealth, there is more to measure than how much money you have. That's important, but we rely on much more than just the dollars we have to create an enjoyable and fruitful life.
Take stock of your household balance sheet
Financial Capital: your savings rate and the funding in your accounts and the types of accounts you have
Human Capital: your ability to continue working - even part time, and you desire to make a contribution to others - even charitably
Social Capital: resources from the relationships you enjoy, possibly children, friends, family and church
Understanding your resources and consumption are key elements of a sound approach to your financial plan.
You need to reserve some time with your advisor to share the facts and more importantly, build a professional relationship. Your advisor should be empathetic and take time to understand your unique situation, so that he can develop a holistic financial plan that meets you where you want.
In contrast, financial product salespeople potentially aren't licensed to address all areas requiring advice. They prefer a quicker pace. The financial system allows this approach, because many people believe they know exactly what they want. We find that folks that manage their own plan and seek products they've researched and pre-selected, like to move quickly. That's not us. We want to understand the numerous variables affecting decisions and possible outcomes, so that we can make truly beneficial recommendations.
